Hi Cindy! So nice to hear from a fellow Murray Countian! I had several Ballew friends when I was in school.

You don't happen to have a first name for a Ballew who married Martha Stroud (born abt 1844), do you? He's the only Ballew in my database, so far.

I can't believe the historical society told you that you had to hire a professional. The information is out there; we just have to be patient and keep digging.

Thanks for stopping by and thanks, especially, for commenting. I love to hear from visitors. I just friended you on Genealogy Wise, btw.

Dear Tonia,
I was so glad to see your blog. I am from Murray County. I was born in the old Murray County Hospital in 1958. My family , the Ballews , have lived here since Ballground was founded in the 1830's. My great-great-grandfather Daniel Ballew came from North Carolina with his wife Mary Harriet Jackson Ballew and settled in Ballground. His brother Isaac stayed in Murray County with him and his sister Arsenith Ballew Franklin and Joshua Madison Ballew settled in Gordon County. I am so glad that you are finding so many of your female relatives and know their names. I cannot find anything about my great-great-grandmother Mary Harriet Jackson who was born in Greeenville , South Carolina. The historical society there said I would have to hire a professional geneologist to help me. I think not. It took me almost 3 years to find my great grandmother Ducketts parents but I found them. Well so much babble about the Ballews. It was nice reading your blogs. Cindy Ballew Wells
