Winter 2010 Geneablogger Games – Opening Ceremony

by Tonia Kendrick on February 13, 2010 in And More

Genealogy, GeneabloggersThe Tonia’s Roots flag is flying, announcing my participation in the Winter 2010 Geneablogger Games.  The base of my flag is the United States Stars and Stripes.  My ancestors came to these shores centuries ago, so the bulk of my research takes place in the United States.  The middle layer is the German flag, representing many of my paternal grandmother’s and maternal grandmother’s ancestors.  The top layer is the flag of the United Kingdom, representing my Scottish, Irish, and English ancestors.

The Games begin today and run through February 26.  I intend to compete in the following  events:

1. Go Back and Cite Your Sources – definitely, I’ll be going for a platinum medal in this event.

2. Back Up Your Data – I have good backup plans in place for my digital files, but I may work on protecting some of my hard copies.  This is a “maybe” event.

3. Organize Your Research – I’ll go for a bronze or silver medal in this event.

4. Expand Your Knowledge – This is another bronze or silver event.

5. Write, Write, Write! – bronze or silver

6. Reach Out and Perform Genealogical Acts of Kindness – bronze or silver

Good luck to all the participants and let the games begin!
