Nellie Ward was born on January 31, 1910, the oldest child of Newt Ward and Rachel Johnson. She probably was born in Fannin County, Georgia, as the family was enumerated there on both the 1910 and 1920 censuses. She married Alfred O. Flowers, who was born May 8, 1909 and died March 21, 1976. Nellie died on August 17, 1999. They are buried in Chatsworth Heights Cemetery.
