Welcome to Tonia’s Roots, my family history website. I have been researching my family history for a total of five years, although seriously for only about three and half years. My mission is to build as complete a history as possible for each of my ancestors and two generations of their descendants.
The site is divided into several sections: Home, About, Archives, and Family Tree.
The “Home” page contains the blog and is where I chronicle my adventures in genealogy and share stories about the family. Excerpts of the most recent posts are on the “Home” page. Click on the post title to read the full article. Click on any of the categories (top of the left sidebar) , check out the Most Popular posts or click in the tag cloud (right sidebar) to find past posts that may interest you.
“About” (you are here) is an introduction and offers navigation tips.
“Archives” contains all past posts organized by the month they were published.
“Family Tree” is a database that contains all my research and includes a wide range of information including surnames, lineage, photos, documents, and much more. There is a LOT of information and new visitors may find it a little overwhelming. Click here for tips on navigating the “Family Tree” section.
I’m mindful of protecting the privacy of my relatives and readers: the short version of my Privacy Policy is that I simply don’t publish information on living individuals (other than myself). If you want to read the long version, click here.
I am happy to share any information that I have that may further your own research, although I do ask that if you use my research you provide proper credit to the site, as well as a link back to Tonia’s Roots, if you are publishing anything online. See the page “Want to Use My Work” for more details.
Lastly, this site is a work in progress; if you see errors or omissions, please email me – just click on the little envelope -> .
Check back often and I hope you’ll drop me a comment to say hello, ask a question, or share some insight.
