"John Burk married 'Ailse Sebastin' in Wilkes County, NC on 6 Jun 1781, bondsman Henry Carter, witness Geo Wheatley. Source: Ancestry.com database 'North Carolina Marriage Bonds, 1741-1868.' John's pension application file contains a 1936 request for information about his service which includes the following statement: 'His wife was Alcy Robinson who was first married to _____ Sebastian.' A Sebastian researcher states he has a 1972 genealogical book giving her maiden name as Alise Sebastian, sister or daughter of Bejamin Sebastian."
