Commenting on the three Strouds listed on the 1790 census, Mr. Anderson had this to say: "This Peter Stroud Jr was your fathers Uncle Peter and the one you all know about and was killed by Garrett."
Probate 27 Nov 1834 [1] - "The Estate Sale of Peter Stroud's property (dated 27 Nov 1834) shows that James Stroud (his son) was the Administrator. The purchasers included several family members, but not all identified. I'm including the names of some of the purchasers with who I think they are in parenthesis:
Joshua Curtis (son-in-law), Joseph Garrett (son in law). B. Peter Stroud ("Big" Peter G. Stroud, Peter's son), Ecles Stroud (Echolds Stroud, nephew), James Stroud (son), John Stroud (son), L. Peter Stroud ("Little" Peter Stroud, 1813, nephew), Margaret Stroud (widow), Peter Stroud, P. Stroud (don't know which these are), Robert Stroud (son), and W. M. Stroud (William, nephew)."
Notes - "a 1922 letter from Ed Anderson (Grandson of Jesse Stroud) to John G. Stroud (grandson of William Stroud) stated that their grandfathers (Jesse and William) were brothers to Peter Stroud Jr and that all were sons of Peter Stroud Sr. We can only assume that Ed Anderson had personal family knowledge since he was not very far removed from that generation."
