Military 1863 Civil War
[4, 11] - He enlisted in the spring of 1863 at Dalton, Georgia in the Confederate Army -Company A, 29th Regiment, Tennessee Volunteer Army. He fought in the battles around Dalton, Resaca, Dallas, and Pickett's Mill. He was on the wounded furlough at the close of the war.

Said land was deeded to the deacons (of which Monteville was one) and their successors. Monteville helped build the church building, even though he had only one arm.
