    • Enlisted 15 Mar 1862 in the CSA, 22nd Regiment, Co. K and served for the duration of the war.

      Thomas mustered in Mar 1862 at the age of 35 or 37 [two ages reported in compiled service records]. He enlisted for a three-year period. He was recruited by Captain A. Burgin, in Marion, and served as a Private in A. Burgin's Company K in the 22 Reg't North Carolina Infantry (State Troops).

      In April 1862, he was paid $50 bounty.

      From January 19 to 31, 1864, he was in Orange County, Virginia, serving as a forage master.

      He was still [or again] in Orange County from April 1 to 30, serving as a wagon master.

      In July and August 1864, he was serving as a wagon master in an "extra duty brigade."
