Paul Dellinger places Margaret Dellinger as the daughter of John Dellinger and Barbara Fisher. However according to Ann Dellinger the Margaret Dellinger who is the daughter of John and Barbara Dellinger married Johannes W. Whitener, who is the brother of George D. Whitener.

Margaret, daughter of Henry and Katherine (Setzer) Dellinger, is identified as the wife of George D. Whitener in 1892 newspaper articles on the descendants of John and Barbara (Whitener) Dellinger and in the writings of other members of the Whitener family. Margaret was born on 18 June 1807. She was the daughter of George Heinrich "Henry" Dellinger and Katherine Setzer. She married George D. Whitener at Lincoln Co., North Carolina, on 23 September 1824.
