- "The Rutherford Co. N. C. are children of Robert Scarsey and Millie Ballard who were in Henry Co., Va. 1777 and in Burke Co., N.C until after Robert's death ca. 1796 when Millie is taxed. She is in Rutherford Co. N. C. by 1800 with her children. Robert Scarsey is in the 1790 cens Burke Co., N. C. and son, William, f/o Hiram is in that Cens with his parents and he md. Oct. 1790 Frances Dalton and after his marriage is in Rutherford Co., N. C. in the 1790 cens.again pg. 117, His bro, Richard is on pg. 1716 and has his first son Robert bn. 1786 with him and two of his young brothers. The mother Millie seems to be with Richard in 1810 cens. and in 1812 she purchases her own land in 1812 and the deed is Scarcy. You will note that all the sons named a dau. Millie, except perhaps John, who we do not have his children by his first wife."
