Burke County was formed in 1777 out of Rowan County and was subsequently divided into numerous additional counties.   Many of my relatives  have lived in Burke County.  My current research returns 155 individuals who lived, died, or had events in Burke County.  Common Burke County surnames from my family tree are Burgin, Curtis, Garrett, Hemphill, Lytle, McEntire, and Stroud.
