Tombstone Tuesday: Aunt Blanche

Stanford-Blanche-TT-2-wWhen Blanche Hemphill, my great-aunt, was born on 22 December 1898, in Murray County, Georgia, her father, James, was 19 and her mother, Alice, was 21. She married Marvin Eakes Stanford on 13 Apr 1919 in Murray County. She died on 3 January 1977, in Floyd County, Georgia, at the age of 78.

Eakes was born on 28 Jul 1898 in Georgia. Eakes and Blanche moved to Rome sometime between 1935 and 1940, where they lived out the rest of their lives.  Eakes died in 1948 at the age of 50.

They are buried at East View Cemetery in Rome.
