Military Abt 1861–1865 [8] Union Soldier Census 1870 Militia District 844, Fannin County, Georgia [2]
- Note: I now feel sure that this is the same person as the James P. Forester who appeared on the 1880 census. His age matches and the age of the child William also matches. Furthermore, I think he is the same James Forester who married Mary L. Vanzant, since his wife's name is reported as Mary here and they live next door to Vanzants, who are likely her parents. I'm reasonably sure that this is the son of Coleman Forrester and Anna Carnes; there are no other James or Polk Forresters in the right age range (of any spelling variation) enumerated in Fannin County in 1870 or 1880.
Polk Forister (25) appeared as head of household. He was a farmer with real estate valued at 500 and a personal estate valued at 200. He was born in Georgia. The household included Mary (25) and William (2).
