I receive questions occasionally about the privacy policy of Tonia’s Roots. As a genealogist, I have collected a lot personal information on our family from a variety of sources. The privacy of this information is important to me. While the privacy policy is a work in progress, the basic principles always remain the same. Here is the current version:
It is important to maintain the privacy of our family members. Any and all data regarding living individuals is not available to the public on this website; this includes access to any photographs and documents that are linked to at least one living individual. A person is considered living if they were born less than 100 years ago and no death date is known. If you see information regarding a living individual that I have inadvertently made public, please email me and I will suppress the information immediately.
Relatives who are personally known to me may register for a user account, which includes access to the entire Family Tree database, including information regarding living individuals.
Contact information on any living family members will not be provided without the express permission of those involved. If you have an inquiry regarding a family member, you may contact me and I will forward your request to that person to use at their discretion.
Tonia’s Roots respects your privacy, as well. Any personal information you provide in emails or by phone, including and similar to your name, address, telephone number and e-mail address will not be released, sold, or rented to any entities or individuals. Your name and website (if entered) will be displayed on comments; your email address will not.
If you have any questions regarding the privacy policy, please leave a comment.
